Yves Couturier est professeur à l’École de travail social de l’Université de Sherbrooke. Il détient un doctorat en sciences humaines appliquées de l’Université de Montréal. Il est titulaire de la Chaire de recherche du Canada sur les pratiques professionnelles d’intégration des services en gérontologie. Il est notamment  membre du Centre de recherche sur le vieillissement du Centre de services de santé et de services sociaux-Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Sherbrooke et du Centre de recherche sur l’intervention éducative de l’Université de Sherbrooke. Il s’intéresse aux pratiques et dispositifs collectifs d’intervention interprofessionnelle.

Il est responsable de l’axe 2 Cloisonnement et collaborations au sein du réseau de la santé et des services sociaux.

ir%20team%26%23039%3Bs%20specific%20needs%20and%20characteristics.We%20recruited%2016%20PWLE%20%283%20of%20whom%20had%20mild%20to%20moderate%20dementia%2C%2013%20of%20whom%20were%20care%20partners%29%20from%20multiple%20sources%2C%20including%20previous%20partnerships%2C%20through%20advertisement%20via%20the%20Quebec%20Federation%20of%20Alzheimer%20Societies%2C%20and%20through%20the%20Engagement%20of%20People%20with%20Lived%20Experience%20of%20Dementia%20program%20of%20the%20Canadian%20Consortium%20on%20Neurodegeneration%20in%20Aging.%20These%2016%20persons%20were%20considered%20full%20research%20team%20members%20as%20co-researchers%20and%20as%20such%20a%20remuneration%20based%20on%20meetings%20participation%20was%20offered%20to%20all.%20Some%20refused%20this%20remuneration%20as%20it%20may%20have%20affected%20their%20pensions.As%20recommended%20in%20participatory%20research%20%2810%2C11%29%2C%20PLWE%20were%20involved%20throughout%20the%20entire%20research%20process%20%28see%20figure%201%29.%20Our%20group%20was%20comprised%20of%2042%20co-researchers%2C%20including%2016%20PWLE%2C%2016%20academic%20researchers%20from%20nine%20universities%2C%203%20students%2C%20and%207%20collaborators%20from%20various%20institutions%20such%20as%20supportive%20organizations%20and%20advocacy%20groups%2C%20public%20health%20agencies%2C%20provincial%20health%20governing%20bodies%2C%20and%20family%20physicians%26%23039%3B%20groups.%20Having%20a%20large%20group%20of%20PWLE%20ensured%20some%20level%20of%20consistency%20despite%20variability%20in%20participation%20and%20offered%20a%20bulwark%20against%20potential%20power%20dynamics%20issues%20observed%20in%20previous%20research%20%2812%29.All%20co-researchers%2C%20in%20particular%20PWLE%2C%20were%20invited%20to%20all%20steps%20of%20the%20project%20%28design%5C%2Fresearch%20questions%20and%20framework%2C%20methods%2C%20results%2C%20and%20dissemination%29%20%2814%29.%20Multiple%20meetings%20were%20held%20at%20regular%20occasions.%20We%20structured%20our%20project%20into%20a%20large%20executive%20committee%2C%20whereby%20general%20directions%20and%20interpretation%20of%20results%20were%20decided.%20PWLE%20were%20members%20of%20this%20committee%20to%20ensure%20their%20ownership%20of%20the%20whole%20research%20process%20%2814%29.%20Additionally%2C%20we%20organized%20distinct%20working%20groups%2C%20one%20per%20research%20objective%2C%20to%20discuss%20the%20data%20collection%20tools%2C%20analysis%20plans%2C%20and%20interpretation%20of%20results%20as%20they%20pertain%20to%20each%20specific%20objective.%20PWLE%20co-researchers%20were%20invited%20to%20each%20committee%20and%20working%20group.%20Large%20executive%20committee%20meetings%2C%20where%20every%20co-researcher%20was%20invited%2C%20were%20organized%20annually.%20Then%2C%20working%20groups%20were%20held%2C%20approximately%20bi-monthly%2C%20in%20which%20data%20collection%2C%20participants%20recruitment%2C%20and%20an%20analyses%20plan%20were%20discussed.%20These%20meetings%20involved%20any%20interested%20co-researcher%20%28PWLE%2C%20researchers%2C%20students%2C%20and%20collaborators%29.Strategy%203%3A%20Designating%20a%20single%20contact%20person%20for%20all%20communications%20with%20PLWE%20Good%20communication%20with%20PWLE%20is%20key%20%2810%2C11%29.%20In%20our%20project%2C%20we%20tailored%20our%20communication%20channels%20and%20designated%20a%20single%20contact%20person%20with%20previous%20experience%20in%20participatory%20research%20to%20direct%20suggestions%2C%20questions%2C%20or%20comments%20to%20and%20from%20PWLE.%20This%20contact%20person%20was%20trained%20with%20the%20existing%20best%20practices%20for%20participatory%20research%20%2810%2C11%29%20.%20This%20person%20coordinated%20with%20the%20PWLE%20to%20explain%20the%20consent%20form%20in%20detail%20and%20answer%20any%20PWLE%20question%20%2818%29%2C%20arrange%20convenient%20dates%2C%20circulated%20documents%20that%20adhered%20to%20Alzheimer%20Society%20of%20Canada%26%23039%3Bs%20patient-centered%20language%20recommendations%20%2813%29%2C%20and%20avoided%20acronyms%2C%20technical%20jargon%2C%20and%20complex%20terminology.%20Following%20each%20meeting%2C%20the%20contact%20person%20gathered%20additional%20comments%20from%20the%20PWLE%20that%20sometimes%20arose%20after%20the%20meeting%20and%20relayed%20these%20to%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20team.%20Furthermore%2C%20this%20person%20provided%20PWLE%20with%20regular%20updates%20and%20summaries%20to%20maintain%20a%20high%20level%20of%20involvement%2C%20either%20by%20emails%20or%20ad-hoc%20meetings.%20This%20deliberate%20approach%20facilitated%20a%20better%20comprehension%20of%20the%20discussed%20topics%20and%20actively%20fostered%20the%20participation%20of%20PWLE%20during%20meetings.As%20it%20is%20essential%20for%20all%20researchers%20and%20PWLE%20to%20be%20on%20the%20same%20page%20on%20the%20project%20%2810%2C11%29%2C%20we%20organized%20initial%20individual%20meetings%20between%20the%20contact%20person%2C%20PWLE%2C%20and%20two%20research
